Formed through collaboration and friendships, the YahYah collective is a Chicago-based art collective focused on sustainable practices and accessible skill-sharing. Composed of artists Seiya Abe-Bell, Brian Castillo, Dan Meinhart, Irma Gualpa, Tania Kelly, Luisa Lozano, Veronica Pruneda, Billy Tucker, and Raine Yung. We are driven by a desire to imagine alternative approaches to material and space, working with creative reuse, alternative photography, film, and natural materials. We create dynamic assemblages, teach workshops, and curate art shows, letting our diverse skill sets inform one another as we explore alternatives to traditional galleries and develop an accessible space to show work in community. We have shown work at various DIY apartment venues, the Chicago Cultural Center, and Working Image.
